Wire Harness Technician
Location: Huntsville, AL

Position Status: 6–9 Month Contract
Work Schedule
  • Compressed Schedule: 9/80
  • Off every other Friday

Job Summary
The Wire Harness Technician fabricates complex wire harness and enclosure products according to specifications while meeting quality, schedule, and budget requirements. This role supports high-reliability manufacturing environments, with a strong emphasis on defense and aerospace standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assemble electrical and electronic components, wiring harnesses, equipment racks, mechanical devices, and other electrical assemblies and subassemblies
  • Manufacture electronic/electrical circuitry and wiring harnesses per Manufacturing Orders (MO), drawings, engineering changes, customer specifications, and process instructions
  • Produce products to required specifications and within operating budget
  • Operate automatic stripping, crimping, wire cutting, and basic test equipment
  • Integrate and test sub-assemblies and/or final assemblies following blueprints, diagrams, and test procedures
  • Perform minor setup of non-complex equipment
  • Assist with soldering operations as required
  • Perform rework on assemblies and/or systems based on test results
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company policies
  • Adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education, Experience & Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of high-reliability manufacturing experience; defense/aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working under AS9100
  • Current or previous IPC-620 and IPC-610 certification
  • Familiarity with IPC, J-STD, AS, and MIL specifications related to defense/aerospace harness build
  • Understanding of ESD processes
  • Experience building cable harnesses using both crimp and solder techniques
  • Soldering operations experience
  • Harness fabrication and enclosure integration experience
  • Experience producing products in a defense/aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and specifications interpretation
  • Basic understanding of build-to-print manufacturing
  • Ability to recommend process improvements within established procedures
  • Strong professional communication skills (verbal and written English)
  • Demonstrated positive, polite, and professional behavior when working with teams and leadership

Preferred:
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint
  • Experience developing work instructions and travelers

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling
  • Walking moderate to long distances as required
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull items over 20 lbs
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs

Work Environment
  • Aircraft hangar, warehouse, and outdoor environments
  • Exposure to loud noise, chemicals, and cleaning agents
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required
  • Ability to work comfortably in hot/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
