Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to support the development, testing, production, sustainment, and modernization of advanced military electronics and Automated Test Equipment (ATE). This is a hands-on engineering role supporting rugged, high-reliability electronic systems where performance and reliability are mission-critical.
The ideal candidate combines a strong electronics testing background with practical experience developing automated test solutions, troubleshooting complex hardware, and working with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems. This position offers the opportunity to work across the full engineering lifecycle—from new product development and test design to reverse engineering legacy systems and supporting production.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and maintain automated test solutions for embedded computing systems, electronic assemblies, and military-grade hardware.
- Develop test procedures, test sequences, fixtures, and processes to verify product functionality, performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain automated testing using LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, or comparable test-development environments.
- Configure and integrate test instrumentation, data acquisition equipment, hardware interfaces, and supporting test systems.
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to validate new hardware designs and establish effective test requirements.
- Troubleshoot electronic hardware and test-system failures, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
- Support reverse-engineering efforts involving legacy electronics, existing test equipment, test methodologies, and system performance requirements.
- Perform functional, performance, and environmental testing, including vibration, shock, thermal, and EMI/EMC testing.
- Design or support the development of custom electrical and mechanical test fixtures and interfaces.
- Analyze test results and prepare detailed technical reports, test documentation, procedures, and data summaries.
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing and production teams to resolve test-related issues and improve product throughput.
- Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation, repeatability, reliability, and overall production efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of professional experience developing and performing testing for electronic systems, embedded systems, or Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Hands-on experience developing automated test solutions using LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of electronic test instrumentation, measurement techniques, data acquisition, and hardware interfaces.
- Experience troubleshooting electronic hardware, test equipment, and system-level integration issues.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex hardware and test-system issues.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Experience working with ruggedized, military, aerospace, or defense electronics.
- Knowledge of environmental testing and qualification requirements for vibration, shock, thermal, and EMI/EMC environments.
- Experience reverse engineering legacy electronics, test methodologies, or DoD test systems.
- Experience designing or developing custom test fixtures, harnesses, adapters, or electrical/mechanical interfaces.
- Familiarity with electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, 3D models, and system-level hardware integration.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, production testing, troubleshooting, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience supporting the sustainment, modernization, or remanufacturing of legacy military electronic systems.
