Location: Englewood, CO
Pay Rate: $116.90/hour
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Principal Systems Engineer to support a cutting-edge New Aircraft Design Program focused on the development of next-generation military aircraft. This role plays a critical part in shaping future aviation platforms by leading system-level design, integration, and technical decision-making to achieve optimal performance, safety, and efficiency.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be deeply involved in the conceptualization, development, and refinement of advanced aircraft systems and structures. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams—including aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, materials, and manufacturing—to ensure successful execution from early concept through production.

In support of the UJTS program, you will research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and continuously improve advanced aerospace products and services. The scope of work spans advanced mission payloads, electronic systems, highly integrated aircraft platforms, and space-related systems. You will contribute across the full product lifecycle, including design, analysis, and testing of complex aerodynamic components, structures, and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead systems engineering activities for next-generation military aircraft programs
  • Support aircraft conceptual design, system architecture development, and requirements definition
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective system integration
  • Perform design, analysis, and validation of advanced aircraft systems and structures
  • Identify and manage technical risks and support high-impact trade studies
  • Support system integration, verification, and validation (V&V) activities
  • Establish, track, and report key Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs)

Required Skills & Experience
Must-Haves:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Progressive experience working in multidisciplinary design and development teams
  • Advanced understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design; systems integration; technical risk identification and management strategies; and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles

Preferred:
  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools (e.g., DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB)
  • Advanced knowledge of industry-standard design principles and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience or certification aligned with INCOSE standards
  • Background in the Aerospace & Defense industry
  • Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in complex development environments
  • Ability to define and track Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs)
Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering or a related discipline
  • Typically 14+ years of relevant experience
