We're seeking a Senior Technical Writer to craft Operations and Maintenance Manuals for cutting-edge military equipment. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Technical Manuals: Author, edit, and maintain high-quality Operations and Maintenance Manuals in compliance with MIL-STD-40051 standards.
  • Collaborate with Experts: Work closely with engineers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to gather technical data and operational insights.
  • Organize Content: Structure information logically and ensure clarity, technical accuracy, and usability for end-users.
  • Enhance with Visuals: Coordinate with illustrators to create technical diagrams, illustrations, and charts to complement written content.
  • Ensure Compliance: Adhere to military documentation standards, ensuring consistency in formatting, terminology, and style.
  • Review and Validate: Conduct peer reviews and usability testing to maintain high documentation quality.
  • Drive Improvement: Participate in initiatives to optimize processes and improve the efficiency of the documentation lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 5-7 years in technical writing, preferably in a military or defense environment.
  • Standards Expertise: Strong knowledge of MIL-STD-40051 and experience developing military equipment documentation.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with tools like ArborText, MS Word, CAD software, and other relevant programs.
  • Writing Excellence: Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification: Technical writing or documentation certification.
  • Military Documentation: Experience with defense-related documentation and additional military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-38784).
  • Defense Industry Background: Familiarity with military operations or defense contracting processes.
