Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Safety Engineer to contribute to our Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) Architecture and Delivery (A&D) Support Services team. As a crucial member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the safety of missile defense systems through meticulous analysis and the integration of safety criteria in system design. Your efforts in hazard analysis, software safety assessment, and hazardous material management will directly impact the development and qualification of cutting-edge hardware and software, ensuring the highest standards of safety in defense technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct various hazard analyses for systems and sub-systems to identify and mitigate risks.
- Evaluate software system safety and participate in hazardous material management planning and execution.
- Develop formal documentation that outlines safety assessments to meet customer requirements and support major project milestones.
Basic Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance and U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related STEM field with up to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proven background in Systems Engineering, preferably with recent education or professional experience.
- Strong understanding of Agile development environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various team members across different disciplines.
- Proficient in written and oral communication.
- Ability to work in-person in a secure facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in requirements review, decomposition, and certification, particularly within MDA weapons systems.
- Skilled in creating detailed briefings and charts.
- Proficiency with DOORS software.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and MIL-STD-1472G standards.
