Job Description

Role overview
This position focuses on the repair, troubleshooting, testing, and characterization of radio-frequency (RF) systems used in defense and high-reliability applications. The engineer/technician will support RF subsystem validation and performance assessment using industry-standard RF test equipment, and will contribute to tuning, rework, and documentation activities across the product life cycle.
Key responsibilities
The individual in this role will diagnose and repair RF systems down to the component level, validate system performance using appropriate measurement techniques, and document findings in a repeatable, traceable manner. Work may involve tuning and rework activities, supporting environmental and reliability testing, and troubleshooting with limited documentation when schematics, materials lists, or original manufacturer resources are unavailable.
Required qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate hands-on capability with RF measurements and a strong systems-level understanding of RF signal chains, including the ability to isolate faults at the component level.

Relevant experience includes:
  • RF measurement proficiency using equipment such as a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), power meter, spectrum analyzer, and RF signal source.
  • Ability to apply test equipment and testing techniques to validate both component and overall system operation (small-signal and large-signal; linear and non-linear behavior).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot with minimal documentation (e.g., without schematics, materials lists, or OEM documentation).
  • Ability to interpret technical artifacts such as schematics/diagrams, wire lists, waveforms, and diagnostic results related to system functionality.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, and repairing RF systems, with working knowledge of both digital and analog circuitry.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision/mentoring.
  • Consistent, detail-oriented recordkeeping practices, including documenting findings and maintaining records for future reference.
Preferred qualifications
The following backgrounds are beneficial but not required:
  • Familiarity with two-way radio systems.
  • Exposure to electronic countermeasure (ECM) or jamming systems.
  • Familiarity with radar and identification-related RF systems.
Security and eligibility requirements
This role requires eligibility for access to classified information in accordance with applicable regulations. U.S. citizenship is required.
