Job Description
The selected Software (SW) Engineer (SW Developer) will be responsible for developing and implementing scripts that drive the automated testing efforts for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapons Systems (GWS) Ground Support Systems (GSS) product team.

Essential Functions:
- Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
- Develop requirements driven software solutions.
- Resolve software issues (debugging) and support verification / test analysis.
- Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction.
- Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.
- Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer are:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience.
- Years of experience for this role is capped at 10 years.
- Experience developing software in C++ and Java.
- Experience with software development for embedded systems.
- Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance which is required to start.
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer are:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD.
- Years of experience for this role is capped at 15 years.
- Strong C++ and Java software development experience.
- Experience with software development for embedded systems.
- Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
- Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition.
- Experience developing using a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating System.
- Knowledge of various scripting languages and tools: Python, MATLAB, etc.
- Familiarity with build tools: Gradle and/or CMake, etc.
- UI Framework / JavaFX exposure
- Git version control system exposure
- Familiarity utilizing the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Fisheye Crucible)
- Familiarity with Software Containerization
- Experience working on CMMI Level 3+ programs.
