Job Description

Mid-Level Systems Engineer (MBSE) – Integrated Air and Missile Defense
An innovative defense technology organization is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience to support development of the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS)—a next-generation platform transforming how the U.S. Army conducts integrated air and missile defense.

This role supports the air defense planning capability within IBCS and offers the opportunity to work on a mission-critical system integrating advanced sensors, weapons, and command-and-control technologies. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex systems-level challenges and help deliver capabilities that protect against modern threats.

This position goes beyond documentation and diagrams—you will help ensure mission-critical systems operate together seamlessly to achieve operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and manage system requirements supporting air defense planning capabilities within the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS).

  • Develop and maintain system architectures, interfaces, and behavioral models that support complex air and missile defense operations.

  • Translate operational needs into technical system requirements by working closely with software developers, test engineers, and subject matter experts.

  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices using tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw to support system design, modeling, and analysis.

  • Support system integration efforts by ensuring components interface correctly and function together to achieve mission objectives.

  • Maintain requirements traceability across the system lifecycle, linking requirements to design elements and verification activities.

  • Perform impact assessments and manage engineering changes, including supporting change requests and engineering change proposals.

  • Develop expertise in integrated air and missile defense systems, including sensors, weapons platforms, and command-and-control technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience (or 3+ years with a Master’s degree) in areas such as requirements analysis, system architecture, or interface definition.

  • Experience working with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw.

  • Demonstrated ability to define system architecture, interfaces, and behavior for complex systems.

  • Experience supporting requirements impact assessments, change requests, and engineering change proposals.

  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Huntsville, Alabama.

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years of systems engineering experience (or 7+ years with a Master’s degree) supporting complex defense systems.

  • Experience with Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems and sensors such as PATRIOT, Sentinel, G/ATOR, or similar platforms.

  • Understanding of how sensors and weapons systems influence command-and-control system architecture and communications interfaces.

  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

  • Familiarity with Jira and other Atlassian tools.

  • Knowledge of Link-16 or other tactical data links.

  • Experience performing requirements impact assessments and contributing to engineering change proposals.

  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
