Position: Mechanical Drafter/Designer
General Summary
As a Mechanical Drafter/Designer with X Force, you will support our engineering team by creating detailed technical drawings using CAD software and assisting in the detailed design process of various product lines, from concept to engineering release. This role involves close collaboration with engineers, quality assurance, and configuration management to ensure engineering deliverables meet the required standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

As a Mechanical Drafter/Designer with X Force, you will support our engineering team by creating detailed technical drawings using CAD software and assisting in the detailed design process of various product lines, from concept to engineering release. This role involves close collaboration with engineers, quality assurance, and configuration management to ensure engineering deliverables meet the required standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and modify 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models based on engineering specifications.
- Prepare documentation and reports for engineering projects.
- Work closely with engineers to ensure designs comply with project requirements and industry standards.
- Review and analyze design drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in design reviews, providing suggestions for improvements.
- Provide hands-on technical support during the integration of mechanical designs in the product development phase.
- Participate in peer reviews and project reviews such as Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
- Maintain product documentation, including change paperwork and configuration change boards.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with ASME’s Y14 suite of standards for engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Understanding of Engineering Change Order systems.
- Familiarity with mechanical drafting, including sheet metal, weldments, milled hardware, and cabling.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of 3D printing technology for generating parts for evaluation is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in CAD drafting, preferably in a mechanical engineering environment.
- Must be a US person.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a related field from a four-year college.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with SolidWorks.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
Computer Skills:
- SolidWorks
- SolidWorks PDM
- Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote
