Manager, Electrical Engineering
Job Description
Provide technical and organizational leadership for a multidisciplinary team of electrical and hardware engineers responsible for the design, development, and certification of high-reliability aerospace and defense training systems. Oversee execution of the hardware lifecycle to ensure compliance with DO-254 design assurance requirements and applicable MIL-STD standards. Manage engineering resources, budgets, schedules, and earned value performance while mentoring staff and driving technical excellence across complex circuit card assemblies and embedded hardware programs.
Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical and hardware engineers across multiple programs.

Manage performance evaluations, professional development plans, and resource allocation to meet technical and program objectives.

Promote engineering best practices, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.
Design Assurance & Certification Oversight
-
Ensure hardware designs meet assigned Design Assurance Level (DAL) requirements.

Oversee creation, review, and approval of DO-254 certification artifacts, including:
-
Plan for Hardware Aspects of Certification (PHAC)
-
Hardware Development Plan (HDP)
-
Hardware Accomplishment Summary (HAS)
Ensure adherence to applicable aerospace and defense standards throughout the hardware development lifecycle.
Electrical Design, EMI/EMC & Environmental Qualification

Define and guide electrical design strategies to support EMI/EMC compliance and environmental qualification efforts.

Coordinate EMI/EMC testing and mitigation approaches in alignment with program requirements and applicable standards.

Ensure electrical hardware supports environmental survivability requirements.
Design Reviews & Production Readiness

Support Systems Engineering in formal design reviews, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).

Review and approve circuit card assembly (CCA) design packages.

Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) to ensure scalability, repeatability, and production readiness.
Program Execution & Earned Value Management

Support proposal activities including Basis of Estimate (BOE) development and resource forecasting.

Manage departmental budgets and project schedules to ensure on-time delivery.

Plan and track electrical engineering scope, cost, and schedule performance in alignment with program budgets and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).

Support development of work packages, budgets, and estimates to complete (ETC/EAC).

Provide earned value inputs, variance analyses, and corrective action recommendations (CPI/SPI) to Program Management.
Technical Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Develop and implement technical approaches, processes, and products aligned with Design for Excellence (DFx), including manufacturability, testability, reliability, and maintainability.

Partner with Program Management, Systems Engineering, Software, and Mechanical Engineering to align hardware development with overall system architecture and customer requirements.

Support technical decision-making and risk mitigation across programs.
