Integration Engineer - Simulation
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Integration Engineer to join a team developing and delivering advanced simulation and training systems for aerospace and defense customers. In this role, you will lead the integration, testing, validation, and deployment of complex simulation platforms that combine hardware, software, networking, visualization, avionics, and motion systems into fully operational, mission-ready solutions.
This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on systems integrator who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working across multiple engineering disciplines, and bringing sophisticated simulation systems from design through customer acceptance and field deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the integration of hardware and software subsystems into complete simulation and training platforms.
- Configure and integrate servers, workstations, Windows/Linux operating systems, networking equipment, and simulation software environments.
- Integrate avionics systems, cockpit instrumentation, image generators, synthetic terrain databases, audiovisual systems, projection systems, motion platforms, control systems, and other simulation components.
- Interpret system architecture diagrams, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, and system integration issues while performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop integration procedures, test plans, verification documentation, and installation processes.
- Execute system integration, verification, validation, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and customer demonstrations.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, software development, hardware engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, configuration management, and program management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor technical progress, identify program risks, and provide recommendations to mitigate schedule and technical challenges.
- Validate system performance and requirements traceability throughout integration and testing activities.
- Support secure network configurations and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership during on-site installation, system commissioning, and customer field support.
- Mentor junior integration engineers and technicians.
- Support software configuration management activities, including tracking and controlling software releases and system baselines.
- Provide technical input for project planning, proposals, risk assessments, and engineering reviews.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience integrating, troubleshooting, testing, and deploying complex real-time simulation systems.
- Strong understanding of avionics systems and aircraft operations.
- Experience programming in C++, C#, Python, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience using development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, VLANs, managed switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with distributed simulation protocols including DIS and HLA.
- Experience working in Windows and Linux environments, including virtualization technologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering schematics, architecture diagrams, interface documentation, and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated expertise troubleshooting integrated hardware and software systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to travel as needed to support customer installations, testing, and field operations.
- Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
- Experience integrating Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), or Mixed Reality (MR) technologies into simulation environments.
- Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine for simulation or visualization applications.
- CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent industry certifications.
- Experience supporting mission-critical, aerospace, military, or high-reliability systems.
- Experience supporting customer acceptance testing and fielded training systems.
The successful candidate is a technically strong systems integrator who combines broad engineering knowledge with exceptional troubleshooting skills. You are comfortable working across hardware, software, networking, visualization, and avionics systems while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, mission-ready simulation solutions.
Additional Information
- Active Secret Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain one is required.
- U.S. passport required or ability to obtain one.
- Occasional domestic and limited international travel may be required to support customer installations and program execution.
- Duties and responsibilities may evolve as business and program needs change.
