We are seeking a dynamic Cybersecurity Engineer to bolster our team. Your role will also involve performing risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, designing security functions, and preparing documentation to demonstrate the security effectiveness of our systems.

Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Cybersecurity Engineer to bolster our team. Your main responsibility will be to perform a variety of Information System Security Engineering (ISSE) tasks across all phases of the system development life cycle, following the Risk Management Framework and according to relevant NIST and FIPS guidelines. You'll contribute to the creation, improvement, and maintenance of aviation training equipment. By leveraging your deep knowledge of cybersecurity, you will support project teams, define stakeholder security goals, and assist in validating security controls. Your role will also involve performing risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, designing security functions, and preparing documentation to demonstrate the security effectiveness of our systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in ISSE activities, applying the Risk Management Framework per NIST Special Publications 800 and FIPS series
- Offer Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expertise to support project teams
- Define stakeholder security goals, protection needs, and validation methods
- Tailor and implement security controls based on guidance such as JSIG, CNSSI 1253, NIST SP 800-37, SP 800-53A, and FIPS-199
- Ensure that system design meets cybersecurity requirements
- Perform IS risk assessments and design countermeasures to mitigate identified risks
- Identify vulnerabilities and devise strategies to mitigate potential disruptions, hazards, and threats
- Incorporate DoD-directed IA vulnerability solutions in system designs
- Analyze costs and benefits of security functions to inform decision-making and risk management
- Assess the effectiveness of information protection measures utilized by systems
- Document system security design features and provide input to implementation plans and procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Ability to obtain DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification within 90 days of start date
- Preferred certifications include: CASP+ CE, CISSP (or Associate), CSSLP
- Experience in one or more areas: Windows/Linux Systems Engineering or Administration, Network Engineering or Security, Software Security Assessments, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Engineering, Vulnerability Management, Endpoint Security Engineering
- Proficiency in common business software (Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint)
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, or equivalent experience
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with both internal and external customers
- Strong communication skills, able to adapt messaging to different audiences
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, effectively managing stakeholder expectations
- Capable of working in a project-oriented, fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
