Job Description


Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Engineer to join our team. This role involves the assembly, installation, integration, and testing of advanced simulation visual display systems, encompassing components such as display screens, projection systems, image generators, and networking hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical assembly, along with experience in the simulation space, and proficiency in working with advanced technologies such as warp and blend software and image generator (IG) systems. This role spans multiple sectors, including military, aerospace, public safety, marine, and aviation.

Key Responsibilities:

Simulation System Assembly and Installation:
  • Install and configure various components of visual display systems, including display screens, projection systems, and image generators (IG).
  • Mount and fine-tune projectors, ensuring precise alignment, optimal resolution, and clear field of view (FOV) for system performance.
  • Integrate and configure IG Frustum, ensuring correct FOV and resolution for high-quality simulation outputs.
  • Perform cable installation (Cat5, Fiber, Copper), ensuring proper cable dressing and labeling for network efficiency.
  • Handle basic networking tasks, including Layer 2 switch installation/configuration, hardware addressing, and troubleshooting.
  • Set up and configure computers, including Windows configuration, imaging, and software installation for simulation environments.
  • Work with warp and blend software to ensure seamless integration of projection systems for visual displays, especially in scalable setups.
  • Conduct site acceptance testing and provide comprehensive system training to end-users, including advanced system calibration and operation.
  • Coordinate with and lead third-party contractors during installation and assist in the creation of technical documentation related to system setup and troubleshooting.

Customer Support and Maintenance:
  • Manage and resolve customer support tickets efficiently, providing both on-site and remote technical assistance.
  • Facilitate repair and maintenance procedures for display systems, including projectors, screens, electronics, and networking equipment.
  • Provide system operation training and troubleshooting assistance during customer training missions or operational use.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring they are supported through the lifecycle of the system and offering proactive maintenance solutions.

Production and Quality Assurance:
  • Inspect incoming parts and components for visual display systems, including electronic parts and networking hardware, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Assemble, test, pack, and ship products, ensuring adherence to quality control procedures and correct system configurations.
  • Stay updated on evolving technologies such as warp and blend software, scalable systems, image generators, and industry trends related to visual display systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in system performance, customer service, and internal production processes.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly, visual display systems, and/or simulation environments.
  • Proven experience in technical and mechanical assembly with construction experience or experience working in field environments.
  • Familiarity with advanced technologies, including image generator (IG) systems, warp and blend software, and networking for visual displays.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. overhead and work in challenging environments, such as on ladders, lifts, and scaffolds.
  • Networking experience, including installation of switches, cables, and basic IP addressing.
  • Software and electronics experience, with proficiency in Windows configuration and basic system troubleshooting.
  • Military or government work experience is a plus, as is familiarity with simulation systems used in defense programs.
  • Ability to pass a background check to obtain security clearance, if required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and passport required.

Preferred Candidate Traits/Advantages:
  • Experience working with simulator visual display systems, including installation, calibration, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with system engineering principles, especially related to simulation systems and visual displays.
  • Hands-on experience with networking, electronics, and software configuration for advanced visual display systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to technical assembly and project management.
  • Military experience or prior work with U.S. government/defense programs is highly desirable.
