We are seeking a  Applications Engineer III to join our Communications Test Systems team. In this role, you will translate technical requirements into robust software and hardware solutions, focusing on RF and digital test scenarios that ensure communication assemblies meet strict performance criteria. Responsibilities

  • Analyze Technical Documentation and Behavior
    • Review OEM documentation, schematics, and unit-under-test (UUT) functionality
    • Identify test requirements, even in cases where documentation is incomplete or unavailable

  • Design Physical Interface Connections
    • Create and maintain electrical schematics or wire lists and bills of material
    • Ensure UUT I/O is properly integrated with the test station I/O

  • Develop Test Software
    • Utilize the organization’s object-oriented APIs to apply stimuli and capture outputs
    • Configure test system instrumentation and UUT settings for both RF and digital requirements

  • Debug and Troubleshoot
    • Investigate and resolve failure conditions during development and from end-user feedback
    • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions

  • Employ DevOps and Revision Control
    • Follow life cycle DevOps methodologies for continuous integration and delivery
    • Use revision control software to manage source code and documentation

  • Validate and Verify Software
    • Perform thorough testing to ensure functionality and reliability
    • Document results and collaborate with stakeholders for improvements

  • Collaborate and Travel as Needed
    • Engage in customer interface for requirements gathering and product demos
    • Work independently or in a team, maintaining best practices and achieving project milestones

Qualifications (Required)

  • Technical Expertise
    • Proven understanding of modern software-defined architectures, including object-oriented design
    • Strong background in software development with C# or other OOP languages

  • Analytical Skills
    • Ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve complex test failures
    • Familiarity with communication/bench test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators)

  • RF Knowledge
    • Basic understanding of RF systems and measurements

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication for cross-functional collaboration

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (BSCE, BSEE, or BSCS)
    • 7+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent background)

  • Work Authorization
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Work Setting
    • Position is on-site (not remote)

  • Technical Proficiency
    • Experience with OOP languages such as C, C++, and C#
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

    • Familiarity with tactical or airborne radio logistics
    • Prior involvement with communication-oriented test solutions
